Folsom Lake Solar Community Fund

This fund will provide flexibility to meet ever-changing community priorities over the life of the project. As administered by the Foundation, grants will be available through an open, competitive, application-based process to support Mills County communities, with preference given to initiatives focusing on community resilience (particularly emergency preparedness, such as fire safety and flood prevention), agriculture, and the environment.

Examples of preference for funding include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting sustainable farming practices and organic agriculture initiatives,
  • Promoting local food systems and farmers’ markets to enhance food security,
  • Providing education and resources for young farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs,
  • Implementing programs and initiatives focused on reducing pollution, improving waste management, and promoting clean energy solutions,
  • Developing green spaces, community gardens, and tree-planting initiatives that improve air quality and provide recreation areas,
  • Undertaking flood prevention and management initiatives,
  • Offering emergency response training and resources for disaster relief and fire safety, building resilience to natural disasters, and improving local infrastructure and emergency medical services (EMS) to withstand and respond to emergencies,
  • Initiating projects that improve road safety through better signage, pedestrian crossings, and public awareness campaigns,
  • Fostering community relations through social engagement initiatives such as community meals,
  • Creating or revitalizing parks, playgrounds, community gardens, and other public spaces that encourage social interaction and physical activity,
